pre & post sugar.

pre sugar
– start it off right

– Do not exfoliate day before or day of treatment.
– Allow hair to grow at least 1/8″.
– Come with clean dry skin, free of any excess oils, lotion, deodorant or any other skin care products (applied 24 hours prior) with the exception of Restore ™ Hydrating Lotion.
– Keep in mind antibiotics or menstrual cycle may make you more sensitive. Some clients have said taking an anti-inflammatory just before appointment helps to take the edge off.
– Avoid sun or tanning beds 24 prior to appointment as sun burned skin cannot be sugared.

post sugar
– keep that sweet feeling long after your treatment

– Do not exfoliate day of or day after treatment but after that make a sugar scrub or dry brush your best friend! Exfoliate 2-3 times per week.
– Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize!!!
– Avoid touching your freshly sugared area with dirty hands.
– Avoid working out for 24 prior as perspiration and friction may irritate the skin. If you do, make sure you shower immediately afterwards to keep follicles clean and bacteria free.
– Please allow 24 hours before chlorine exposure.  Salt water pools and tubs are OK.
– Do not pick at ingrowns, it could cause greater inflammation and infect surrounding pores.
– Wait 24 hours before exposing skin to sun or tanning beds.
– Avoid perfume soaps or products and makeup for at least 12 hours following.
– Ask about a take-home vagacial kit or add it to your treatment in studio (see sweet treatments for pricing).
– DO NOT PICK UP THAT RAZOR!!!!

ingrown hairs

Many people are subject to ingrown hairs due to the hair being out of the follicle for weeks giving the dead skin cells a chance to form over the mouth of the follicle, thus causing the hair to grow under the skin when it reappears.

To prevent this from happening, I cannot stress the importance of exfoliating and moisturizing enough!!! I have a few favourite products available for purchase in studio.

ingrown repair

Tips to get rid of ingrown hairs:

  1. Stick to your exfoliating routine but, do not overdue it as that can have an adverse effect.
  2. Always stay moisturized. As a rule, rehydrate every time the skin gets wet.
  3. DON’T PICK.
  4. No underwear.  If you don’t have to wear underwear, don’t!  If you do, choose some with no seams around the edges so it doesn’t dig into the bikini lines irritating or causing more ingrowns.  It’s true, let it breathe!
